St Marys Hospital

St. Mary’s is a hospital in the city of Rochester that cares for numerous individuals with various needs. Each of the individuals residing at the hospital is beset with a variety of mental, physical or psychological disabilities, and the hospital is a means of support and care for each resident.

Word of Life visits the hospital monthly to share a brief message of love with the residents, and also to share our love with the beautiful people that live at the hospital. Those of us that have attended have received such an incredible blessing by visiting such lovely and loving people as those at St. Mary’s. The residents have taught each of us in their own way to see that the true treasures in life are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Brentland Woods

Every 3rd Saturday of the month we visit the folks at Brentland Woods Assisted Living. We start by singing some well known hymns with them for about 1/2 an hour and then visit with them for another half hour or so. The people there so appreciate visitors and it is also a great time to make some new friends and help share God’s love with these wonderful people. Check the bulletin or calendar to make sure the times have not changed.

Open Door Mission

The Open Door Mission is a not-for-profit ministry, founded in prayer, to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the last, the least, and the lost of our community. The ministry is prompted solely by the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is supported by the continuing prayer and contributions of others.

We support the efforts of this ministry by visiting multiple times through the year to serve a meal, lead a service, and meet personally with the individuals that come to the Open Door. This is a great opportunity to bless others with the many blessings that we have received, and to demonstrate the love of God through our actions by giving of our time, energy, and self to others that are in such desperate need.

BASIC Campus Outreach

BASIC stands for “Brothers and Sisters in Christ.” Students gather every week at the University of Rochester to worship God and inspire each other to live out their faith in Christ at school. And every semester, all of the students from dozens of universities gather together in Rochester, NY for 3 days of passionate worship, incredible teaching, and powerful ministry.

A word that was given clearly from the Lord to the founder of BASIC is, “If you limit yourself to the local church, there is no limit to what I will do through this ministry.” BASIC provides a way for college students to stay involved in a church and not only survive the college experience, but thrive.

We support the group on campus, and are intimately involved with the meetings held on campus. Our goal is to let college students know that they don’t have to go through college like everyone else, and can be a part of something bigger. We want to let BASIC link students to thousands of their peers determined to make a difference in their generation!
