Bulletin for March 29, 2009

Every time we turn on the news there is something more about the economy. One news network has had so many complaints about the negativity of the news that they devote a segment to something good going on. Personally I have been anxious at times hearing it all but then I come to this scripture in Phil 4:6-8, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable– if anything is excellent or praiseworthy– think about such things.” I love those words “think on these things.”

An old song that has come to mean a lot to me this month is the song, “Learning to lean, I’m learning to lean, learning to lean on Jesus. Finding more power than I ever dreamed I’m learning to lean on Jesus.” In the midst of challenges we can lean on him and find strength for the day. I am learning to “think on these things” not on the negative.

On April 4, 2009 from 9am – Noon please join us while we work around the church.

Work to be done includes:

• Cob web removal throughout the building
• Washing the windows inside and out
• Scrubbing the tile floor
• Mopping the gym floor
• Vacuuming all the chairs and bench chairs
• Yard work
• Washing, disinfecting of all nursery toys
• Anything that has been bothering you and needs to be cleaned.

Please bring your favorite cleaning equipment with you since the church doesn’t have enough to supply the extra helping hands.

On April 10, 2009 at 7pm this year’s Good Friday service will again be held at Word of Life Christian Fellowship. This service is a mutual effort by Covenant Life Church, Ridgeland Community Church, and Word of Life Christian Fellowship. We may also be joined by Henrietta Christian Fellowship this year. Plan to join us for a time of worship and fellowship. Child care will be available for infants through 4 years.

Join us as Empty Nesters and Near Nesters make Nests (or Easter Baskets) at 7pm on April 4, 2009 at WOLCF.
The baskets will be provided, but please bring candy and small items to fill the baskets. Please feel free to bring a snack to share.

Beginning April 3, 2009 we will be starting a new series, “It’s Tough Being a Woman” using the book of Esther. We will be meeting Fridays from 9:30-11am for 10 weeks. Study Guides are available, optionally, for $20.00 (please pre-order ASAP). Child care is available for preschoolers.
